False CVs causes concern in the financial services industry

85% of recruiting managers in the financial services have experienced candidates presenting false information on their CVs or on job applications, a recent study revealed.

The study also found that 75% uncovered flaws in applicants’ CVs. Here are the key ways to spot concerns with CVs

• Verify the candidate’s employment history (ask candidates to provide names of managers and company addresses)
• Check social media profiles (not just Linkedin)
• Uncover gaps in employment and query reasons for leaving jobs
• Pay attention to unusual periods of self-employment
