Alcohol & Drugs in the Workplace Training – NEW!

Drug and alcohol misuse is a significant issue in our society, and this often spills into our workplaces. Many wellbeing risk factors, such as social isolation and financial pressures were heightened post pandemic, increasing the need for employers to engage with the issue. A report in 2020 from Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) found that too few employers provide training to line managers on recognising the symptoms of drug and alcohol problems (26%).

As an employer you have a legal duty to protect employees’ health, safety, and welfare. Therefore, understanding the signs of drug and alcohol misuse (or abuse) will help you to manage health and safety risk in your workplace.

Drug and alcohol misuse is the use of illegal drugs and misuse of alcohol, medicines, and substances such as solvents.

Warning signs, which could indicate drug or alcohol misuse:

  • unexplained or frequent absences
  • a change in behaviour
  • unexplained dips in productivity
  • more accidents or near-misses
  • performance or conduct issues

These can also be signs of other things, like stress or illness. 121 HR Solutions have developed a workshop introducing line managers to scenarios they could face and prompt discussions about the best way to manage such situations.

We invite you to join us for an informative workshop to be held on 21st February in Montrose and 22nd February in Glasgow between 10am and 12.30pm.
