Updated guidance on the ‘Fit Note’ available

The Government has issued updated guidance on the statement of fitness to work (Fit Note) for employers and managers.

Remember that an employee can self-certify their absence for seven consecutive days but from day 8 of absence a Fit Note must be submitted to an employer.  Once an employee has returned to work from absence it is best practice to conduct a return-to-work interview to establish any triggers hit for absence; patterns; likelihood of further absence and support that the employer can offer to the employee.
