Employment Tribunal Statistics

As a result of the 121 HR Solutions’ approach of “preventative care” in our approach, employment tribunals are rare amongst our clients but seems that in general, employment tribunal cases have fallen in the last year; down to just over 85,000 – down from over 100,000 per year. Interestingly, in claims other than disability discrimination, awards are slightly down too with the average award for unfair dismissal at £11,914.

The highest award made in the 22/23 reporting period was £1,767,869 and was made in a disability discrimination case. An award of £995,128 was made in a sex discrimination claim, and £452,474 was made in a race discrimination case.  

When is comes to employment disputes, the majority are settled without a tribunal claim being raised, and many will have settled for well in excess of the average figures being reported.
