Mental Health First Aid – Glasgow

First Aid for Mental Health develops knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. Delegate will be aware of the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put it in place and know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace. Delegates will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions but will know where they can signpost others to get help
This workshop is designed for individuals who wish to act as a mental health first aider in their workplace. Upon successful completion of this qualification, candidates will be equipped with the essential skills needed to give sound, practical advice in managing sensitive situations involving mental health.
This workshop will cover:
• Know what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of a First Aider for mental health
• Know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a mental health condition:
• Know how to recognise and manage stress;
• Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions;
• Understand the impact of substance abuse on mental health;
• Understand the mental health action plan and be able to put in place
• Know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace
Who is it for?
Managers, supervisors or team leaders who manage employees within the workplace.

The FAA Level 2 Award and Level 5 SCQF in Mentor Health for First Aid qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. A short test is required to complete the qualification on the day.
