Skills for First Line Managers (Dundee)

This workshop looks at the basics for new or aspiring managers. This is ideal for supervisors or team leaders who have to interact with teams but who may not have received formal training in line management:

Introduction to Communication skills
• How to be an assertive communicator
• Using communication skills to delegate and motivate teams

Understanding the basics of absence management
• Dealing differently with short term and long term absence
• Conducting return to work meetings
• Managing welfare meetings

Dealing with conflict situations
• Understanding and recognising conflict in the workplace
• Managing difficult situations
• Notes of concern and a guide to disciplinary situations arising out of inappropriate behaviour
